The Summer Mall

SAMARAHAN – The Tok Bok Nyo Carnival 3.0 concluded on 27 September after three days of activities at Summer Mall, Kota Samarahan.

The carnival, which ran from 25 to 27 September, brought together students, young people, community members, government agencies, educational institutions and private sector representatives through a programme featuring educational, community and cultural activities.

The closing ceremony was held at 3.30pm and officiated by Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Kota Samarahan Member of Parliament Datuk Rubiah Wang.

Among the activities featured during the carnival were educational exhibitions, community programmes and showcases of local heritage products. The range of activities provided participants with opportunities to obtain information while engaging with organisations and other members of the community.

In her address at the closing ceremony, Rubiah encouraged the continuation of programmes that provide young people with opportunities to take part in constructive activities.

She said such programmes could help youths broaden their knowledge while gaining exposure to educational and career-related opportunities.

The carnival also placed attention on local heritage products, with the exhibition and promotion of traditional products providing a platform to highlight heritage, skills and practices associated with the local community.

Rubiah also noted the potential of heritage products as a source of income for local entrepreneurs, while stressing their role in maintaining traditional knowledge and skills.

Beyond its activities for students and youths, the carnival served as a meeting point for various organisations and community groups. Information sharing, exhibitions and public activities brought together participants from different sectors.

The event involved the Majlis Perbandaran Kota Samarahan (MPKS), government agencies, educational institutions, private sector representatives, community organisations and youths.

The closing ceremony was attended by the MPKS chairman and deputy chairman, the municipal secretary, the Deputy Resident of Samarahan, the Samarahan District Officer and representatives of Summer Mall management.

Council members, government agency officials, community representatives, ethnic leaders and carnival participants were also present.

The involvement of the different groups provided opportunities for agencies and organisations to interact with residents and young people throughout the three-day programme.

MPKS expressed its appreciation to the agencies, organisations, participants and community members who contributed to the carnival and supported its activities.

The conclusion of the third edition marks the end of this year’s programme, which combined youth activities, educational information, community engagement and local heritage showcases at the Kota Samarahan venue.
